A course aimed at Young People 13+ on how to deliver Scouting’s key messages, through a variety of media channels.

If you have stories to tell about the amazing Scouting experiences you have had and want to share these locally and nationally, then this course is perfect for you!

We are looking for Explorers to find, write and share the good news stories in their Districts with the rest of the County and members of the public.

WHAT THE COURSE INVOLVES

SSU is a media and presentation skills course, run locally by experienced staff and volunteers from Scout Headquarters. The course is delivered through a sequence of sessions, teaching you new skills and techniques, which you will then put into practice on the second day.

Building on the Scout Association’s commitment to placing young people at the heart of communications, it aims to equip Explorer Scouts with the necessary skills and practical experience to talk confidently and effectively about Scouting to a variety of internal and external audiences.

The course is an intensive two days, but focuses on learning by doing, allowing you to develop your skills through practical experiences. All you need to bring is your personal Scouting experiences and we will help you to turn these into stories showing the best of what Scouting has to offer!

The evening entertainment on Saturday night will be Bonfire Night themed, with the opportunity to chat with the County Media Team on how you would like to get involved in promoting Scouting in Humberside.
