The Discovery Sailing Project, which is a member of the Scout Association, is pleased to present adventurous Offshore Sailing Voyages in 2018 run by our qualified volunteer staff, all of whom are members of the association and are registered as Skills Instructors.  Skippers have Marine Coastguard Agency / Royal Yachting Association Commercial Qualifications together with the relevant Scout Activity Permit and Nights Away Permit.

WEEKEND SAILING

Throughout the year from April to October we offer weekend sailing from our base on the River Hamble near Southampton.  Crews join on the Friday evening, are allocated a bunk and have time to get to know the sea staff and the yacht.  On Saturday after a hearty breakfast they will spend the day sailing in the Solent, putting in to a Marina for the evening.  There is always much to learn and games to play!  Saturday evening we have a great dinner. Sunday is spent putting some of the skills learnt into practice for the return journey to the Hamble.  We aim to leave the Marina at 1600 hrs in order to give everyone a chance to get home in good time.
We can offer eleven places on Thermopylae Clipper and nine places on Discovery.  The cost is just £50 per person per day which includes berth fee, food, use of suitable waterproofs, moorings and fuel. Only addition is personal spending money.  This is a special price for Scout Groups.

If you then want to make a booking please email us office@dsp.uk.com to confirm availability.  We will send a booking form and further details.

WEEK SAILING

The Project can arrange mid week sailing by arrangement.  There is a scheduled week during the October Half Term each year which is also suitable for the DofE Residential section of the Gold Award.  Cost for these voyages are also £50 per head per day.
If you would like to discuss specific possibilities please email us with your request office@dsp.uk.com

2018 CIRCUMNAVIGATION OF THE UK

From early July until Early September Thermopylae Clipper will be circumnavigating the UK in a series of week long legs.  There will be nine in total.
Starting from our base in the River Hamble near Southampton we will change crews in Plymouth, Milford Haven, Donaghadee in Northern Ireland, Troon, Inverness, Edinburgh, Hull, and Dover before the final voyage back to the Hamble.
This is a great opportunity for a voyage either in waters near to you or somewhere further afield!
We are taking bookings for groups of eleven people at a cost of just £350 per person.  This represents fantastic value for a week activity of Offshore Sailing.
