Returning to face-to-face Scouting at Amber Level

COVID Risk Assessments

Please remember the process required for submitting a COVID-19 Risk Assessment.

  • All RAs must be submitted through the HQ Smart Sheets Form.
  • The Approver is Linda Thelwell and the Approver email address is: linda.thelwell@blacktoftbeacon-scouts.org.uk
  • More details in our previous post.

Some Top Tips!

  • Keep them simple.
  • Use the HQ template.
  • Go back when the time is right for your group, section and leaders,
  • Be prepared for ‘local lockdowns’ and react straight away.
  • Safety & Safeguarding must be up to date and recorded as such on compass before a leader can return to face-2-face scouting. This can all be completed on-line.

New rules on Activity Risk Assessments

Please read the new guidance here.

There is also a good FAQ Section, which answered questions GSLs had during the meeting.

Approving of Activities in Blacktoft Beacon

Our process

We have pulled together a document that outlines the process for approving activities in Blacktoft Beacon.
There are no changes to this, but HQ have asked that it is made clear to all members of the District so that everyone understands their responsibilities.
Please have a read through of it here: Approving Activities

New NAN Form

We have a new looking NAN Form. This includes the updates made and explains how to upload your Nights Away Risk Assessment with your NAN Form. The link to the Form will remain the same.

Tablers Wood

Once County have approved the campsite COVID-19 risk assessment we will re-open site. At the moment no building will be open apart from the special needs toilet, for which cleaning materials will be provided for the user to clean on arrival and departure.

Users will be able to access site by both gates to enable them to set up a one way system. The code will be the same for both gates and notified to the user after booking. The toilet key will be accessed from the key box on the outside of the kitchen.

First Aid encourage leaders to complete theory on-line, it can then be updated on compass with the proviso that once able they have 6 months to complete the practical parts. There is no need for our leaders to pay for a 3rd party provider.
