1. Tim Kidd’s Message dated 18th March 2020 – Suspension of face-to-face activities.

As you will have seen from Tim Kidd’s message there will be no further face-2-face activities, meetings or events, this includes both Young People and Adults alike, Tim is issuing daily updates and any relevant information will be sent on.

DBS Disclosures are supposed to be carried out face -2-face but under the current situation this is not possible, The Scout Association are working with DBS to work out a interim process.

2. District Financial Support (John – District Treasurer)

GSLs, Group Chairs and Group Treasurers have all received an email outlining the support available, should it be needed.

3. Clearing/Cancelling of the District Calendar

You will see from the newsletter that all District events have now been cancelled and removed from the calendar.  We are not going to try and put the events back in, later on in the year, we are just going to book them for next year and hopefully around the same time.

We can confirm that St George’s Day has been booked for 2021 and will be held at Beverley Racecourse again on Sunday 25th April 2021

4. This Years District AGM

Over the next few weeks we will look at how we can hold the District AGM as we will not be able to hold this in the normal way. It may be that we can have a virtual meeting instead online, it may be that it has to be a little later than normal as it will be dependent on when the final accounts can be given to the auditor, this is usually a face-2-face meeting – Further details to be released.

John Jobling asked to remind your group Treasurers that all group accounts do need to be audited and a copy sent over to John as close to 31st March as possible.

5. District Campsite – Tablers Wood

Due to COVID-19 the district campsite is currently closed until the 1st September if the restrictions are lifted, we will open the site earlier, please keep an eye on the district website for further information.

As we are not allowed gatherings or face-2-face meetings it was also been agree at the District Executive Meeting that Chris and Shaun may attend the site to carry out any essential maintenance that can be done whilst the site is closed but we will not be inviting anyone else to help as planned.

6. The Great Outdoors

The Scout Association are trying to build as many indoor activities for the young people to do at home during the COVID-19 situation to try and keep them interested in Scouting and also to give them something slightly different to the school work they have received.

If leaders wanted, they could arrange to do some virtual scouting and there are items on the website you can use and you can also add any ideas / activities yourself.

The website link is www.scouts.org.uk/the-great-indoors

7. Adult Training, Online Safety and Safeguarding.

Various emails have been sent out over the past few weeks from the Scout Association about training and we have been trying as a District to ensure that all training is up to date.  Wendy has sent out emails to all leaders today with lists of all outstanding training as well as emails to the individuals themselves to see if we can get training up to date whilst we are not scouting.  Tim Kidd will be sending out a similar email in the next week or so asking that all Safety and Safeguarding training is brought up to date as a matter of urgency.

In the past we have asked that training should alternate between face-2-face and online but under the current circumstances if your last training was online you can complete any outstanding training online too.

Once training has been completed Wendy is more than happy to assist anyone who needs help with Compass to bring it up to date or update compass on your behalf.

The Question was raised regarding First Aid as this cannot be completed online, it was decided that the date would be carried forward until Training was visible and Wendy will find out more information on this.

10. Any other business

You may have noticed on the District Website that each groups details’ have been removed, this is because a lot of the were now out of date.

Using the census data provided by each group Linda has produced a new listing of each Group’s details’ which will be published onto the website over the next few weeks.
