Good afternoon

Following the success of the pilot scheme for Volunteer Police Cadets in HULL and GRIMSBY, we are looking to expand the scheme to all areas in Humberside, including GOOLE and the surrounding areas.

Unfortunately we are struggling to recruit, with a low number of applicants for the GOOLE area so far, and so I would like to ask you to consider the young people that you have contact with through your schools, clubs and community centres, and whether you think that they would benefit from the scheme, and would be suitable for it?  All applicants will need to pass police vetting, but we anticipate that low-level/first time offending Triage or Community Resolution outcomes wouldn’t be a barrier to this.

We are looking for young people who meet the following criteria: –

  • They must be aged between 15 and 18 years of age
  • They must have lived in the UK for the last 3 years or more
  • They must be enthusiastic, dedicated and committed to the scheme, and be willing to commit to 2 hours training per week (during term time only) and volunteer a further 3 hours per month in their local community

I have attached the application form, applications have been held open for GOOLE until the end of this month, so if you could give this your prompt consideration I would very much appreciate it.

We require a total of 75 young people (15 from Goole) to begin in September 2017.  Uniform will be provided, and we will provide these young people with the opportunity to develop positive relationships with partner agencies and their local communities, as well as working with their local policing teams on community projects and taskings, and becoming ambassadors for Humberside Police.

Thank you very much for your time; if you have any questions please don’t hesitate to contact me.

Kind Regards
